[Discussion] Jürgen Habermas, Three Normative Models of Democracy

In April 2018, a group of about 7 people gathered at the Law Faculty in Humboldt University to discuss Habermas’ “Three Normative Models of Democracy.” The text can be found here.

The session began with a short presentation of the text’s arguments around three main points: first, Habermas’ description and critique of the two models of democratic politics (the liberal and the republican views of democratic processes); second, the introduction of a third normative model that tries to fit in the gap opened by the first two; and thirdly, a reconstruction of his procedural view on this third model.
